It was a perfectly logical idea. Of course. Why don’t I simply move everything from public_html/blacknixdreaming/blog/ to public_html/blacknixdreaming? All links are local (why wouldn’t they be?) so everything could move as one. Cohesive. Unit.
Only one little itsy bitsy teeny tiny issue with that: without updating the URI links first, I was suddenly unable to access wp-admin and the CSS stylesheet suddenly stopped applying.
This is when I made my second mistake. Of course, Black, everything should be fine if you just re-install WordPress. Meaning, for one, that my mySQL account is deleted (how was I supposed to know?) and set back up again. Meaning, for one, that the database of *all* my two posts is gone. Forever. Into the abyss, never to return.
I suppose this is one of life’s many lessons. It’s good, I suppose, to understand the architecture of the system you’re working with. That the bounty of relevant knowledge is increased and you’re more prepared for the struggle that lies ahead; perhaps that’s the most important thing to gain from all of this.
Perhaps, though, I just have to make sure I always install an auto-backup plugin. WP-DB-backup ftw.
